Install Solaris 8 in console mode or with a supported framebuffer

if you use ZX during installation you'll get:

     NOTICE: Can't find driver for console framebuffer

After solaris 8 installation is complete get the solaris 2.6 CDs
and insert cd 1 on the cdrom unit to install leo drivers

# volcheck 
# cd /cdrom/cdrom0/s0/Solaris_2.6/Product 
# pkgadd -d . SUNWleo.m 
# pkgadd -d . SUNWleor 
# pkgadd -d . SUNWleow 
# pkgadd -d . SUNWxglrt
# pkgadd -d . SUNWleoo 
# cd / 
# eject cdrom0
# touch /reconfigure


Next enable TrueColor 24bit color

edit  /usr/dt/config/Xservers or  /etc/dt/config/Xservers the one you have

and  change the last line as follows:
 


   :0	Local local_uid@console root /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun :0 -nobanner -dev /dev/fb defclass TrueColor defdepth 24




shutdown

install ZX if not already installed

boot
